Indexing and Archiving Policy
Vera Academic Press is committed to ensuring the long-term accessibility, discoverability, and preservation of its scholarly publications.
To achieve this, the Press implements recognized indexing, metadata, and digital archiving practices in accordance with international standards for academic publishing.
1. Indexing and Discoverability
All publications released by Vera Academic Press are accompanied by complete and structured metadata to support indexing and discoverability.
The Press ensures that:
-
Each published monograph and book chapter is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI)
-
DOIs are registered through Crossref
-
Metadata includes title, author(s), abstract, keywords, publication date, language, and licensing information
These practices support reliable citation, persistent linking, and integration with academic discovery systems such as library catalogs and scholarly search engines.
2. Chapter-Level Metadata and DOI
For edited volumes, Vera Academic Press assigns:
-
A DOI to the complete volume
-
A separate DOI to each individual chapter
Chapter-level metadata is deposited with Crossref to enhance visibility, citation tracking, and independent scholarly recognition of chapter authors.
3. Open Access and Licensing Metadata
All publications are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license.
Licensing information is clearly displayed on publication pages and included in deposited metadata to ensure transparency and reuse in accordance with open access standards.
4. Digital Archiving and Preservation
Vera Academic Press is committed to the long-term preservation of its publications.
The Press ensures digital preservation through:
-
Secure storage of published files on its publishing platform
-
Maintenance of persistent identifiers (DOIs)
-
Regular backups and system-level preservation practices
These measures aim to protect the scholarly record against data loss and technological obsolescence.
5. Platform and File Formats
Publications are hosted and distributed through the Open Monograph Press (OMP) platform.
The Press publishes works in widely used, non-proprietary or standard formats (such as PDF and HTML, where applicable) to support long-term accessibility and interoperability.
6. External Indexing and Repositories
Vera Academic Press supports the dissemination of its publications through academic repositories and indexing services, subject to their individual selection criteria.
The Press encourages authors to deposit published works in institutional or subject repositories, provided that proper citation and DOI information are included.
7. Version of Record
The version published on the Vera Academic Press publishing platform is considered the Version of Record.
Any subsequent updates, corrections, or retractions are handled transparently in accordance with the Press’s editorial and ethical policies.
8. Policy Review
This policy is reviewed periodically to ensure alignment with evolving standards in scholarly communication and digital preservation.
